Putlabai
Putalabai Shivaji Bhosale was the third queen of the Shivaji Raje. She was from Palkar Family and married Shivaji Raje in 1653. Putalabai had no children. She committed Sati after the death of Shivaji. In olden time ladies consider husband as her bhagwan (God) and when he got died , they used to think that their reason of living has gone and they used to burn with him. they belive committing sati and go to meet husband in heaven, and live together there only.
Putlabai went Sati in funeral pyre of Shivaji Maharaj, She was very mournful and died on 27th June 1680 , that is after 85 days of Chhatrapati Shivaji's Death. She was waiting for Sambhaji to come, she want to meet him and handover Shivaji's crown to him. because Soyrabai step mother along with influential courtiers and ministers conspired against Sambhaji, to prevent him from succeeding the throne.
Sambhaji Raje try to stop her, he didn't want she committed sati, sambhaji request her not live him like that, he told Putlabai if she committed sati he doesn't have any one who give him unconditional love. After jijamata only Putlabai look after sambhaji. Putlabai doesn't have her own child, after the death of Saibai (mother of Sambhaji) jijabai and Putlabai upbringing Sambhaji Raje.
